Friends and Family

We had a fun-filled week talking about our families and friends.  We talked about how many members we have in our family, and we talked about what it means to be a good friend to others.  Our week included painting with Q-tips, coloring, cutting with scissors, gluing, rolling dice, counting pom poms, practicing good pencil grip to write our names and lots of fun songs and playtime with our friends.  Hope you enjoy the pics from the week!

We talked about the number of people and pets in our family and glued our information on a graph.

We practiced writing our names.

We drew pics of our family.

We cut and tore small pieces of paper to make our name crafts this week.

We had some kiddos who had much better cutting skills than I expected!  Yeah!

Look at these great cutting skills!

The houses were so cute that I hung them outside our room.  Check them out when you get a chance!

If you haven't seen them yet, our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees with our names are hanging up too!

After cutting strips of paper, we glued them on our name to "trace" the letters.  Then, we painted with Q-tips to create our letter "M" of the week.

Playtime with our friends in class!

We did a circle science experiment that tied into our Bible story this week as well.  We used circular Skittles and poured hot water over them, then watched to see what happened when a rainbow color wheel appeared.  So cool!  We related this to our friendship and relationship with God.  When we talk to God, no matter where we are or who we are, He hears us and all prayers go to Him.

If we thought of people as Skittles, all of our prayers go to God just like all of the colors run together to the center of the plate.  A fun and colorful way to be reminded that Jesus is our friend. :)

Enjoying some sunshine with our friends!

Tabletop Center Activities

Look who wore Minnie Mouse ears for the letter "M" today!

Sharing all of our letter "M" items at Show and Tell this week!

So thankful for our yummy snacks!

Have a blessed week!  See you Wednesday!

All About Me

This week our theme was "All About Me".  We talked about some of the things we did over the summer, some of our favorite colors, our favorite foods, and the letters in our name.  We also talked about the overall alphabet and did some fun songs and activities with our ABC's.  We enjoyed learning table top centers in the morning, carpet time, center rotations, and play time inside, outside, and in our green room or Minds in Motion Room.  We had a lot of fun, and here are a few pictures from our week!

I've also included a few of our favorite videos from the week in case your child would like to see them again.  The alphardy abc video will be one that we will listen to on a regular basis to help with our letter sounds.  The "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" video was the singing version of a book we read this week.  Definitely a favorite!

We made fun headbands for our first day.

We talked about a "few of our favorite things"...

We worked on tracing our names.

We worked on making different shapes and lines to show our handwriting readiness.

Mrs. Susie was kind enough to do some hand-painting activities with our kids this week.  We made coconut trees with our own "palms" and then added the letters in our name to them.  Look for these to be hanging in the hallway soon!

One of our independent stations was to build letter trees like we saw in our book, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom".  We used blocks, popsicle sticks, and magnetic letters to build them.  We made some as a class and also individually and then counted to see how many letters we could stack on top before it fell.  Our class tree was able to fit 12 letters before it crashed!

We also discovered that since our letters were magnetic, they would also stick to our magna tiles for building new things as well.

We made new friends and played together in the classroom.

We checked out all the fun activities in the Minds in Motion room.  So much to do and a great way to get our wiggles out and our mind moving in the right direction!  We try to squeeze in outdoor play and MIM time every day, but when the weather is really nice, we spend more time outside while we can!  Before we know it, it will be too cold for that option!

We were able to enjoy some sunshine each day this week!  We managed to miss all the rain!

Can't wait to see all these sweet faces back again next week!  Mrs. Susie and I are looking forward to it!
