Thanksgiving

We certainly have so much to be thankful for this week and every week.  We've had a lot of fun studying Pilgrims, Native Americans, and turkeys along with the letter "I" and number 10.  I'm so thankful to have all these sweet kiddos in my class this year! We had a couple kiddos out sick this week, so we look forward to seeing them back and healthy in two weeks.   Hope you enjoy the pics and videos from the week. :)

Ten Little Turkeys

Turkey Pokey

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble Dance Song

Cooper got a chance to tell us about all of his adventures with Gumby last week.  He even has a Gumby of his own at home too!  So glad to know Gumby has a brother out there somewhere. ;)

Doing Tabletop Centers to start our day.

Mrs. Susie asked these kiddos about all the things they're thankful for...

and then we hung them up outside for all to see.  So funny to see some of their responses!:)

We also shared our turkeys in disguise...

and then hung them up for all to see.  We had so many clever and cute disguises!

We searched for items that started with letter "I".

We traced our numbers 1-10 with markers.

We matched the number of items with the correct number and traced the numbers.

We placed stickers on the #10 to trace it.

We created our own puzzles.  We colored our turkeys with numbers 1-10 at the bottom, we cut it apart, and then had to put it back together again like pieces of a puzzle.  Great activity for coloring, cutting, gluing and using number order.

We did a combo skill sheet to cover our letter "I", number 10 and to review some of our skills we've talked about so far.  Keep reviewing at home too!  It definitely shows for those kiddos who practice outside of class.  Thank you so much!

We counted and colored the number of feathers to match each of our turkeys.

Mrs. Susie helped us color and graph our shapes on our papers with small dotters.

We were able to make our own turkeys as well by gluing on all the feathers.  We wanted to make them look fancy and "featherful"!

We painted our turkey handprints, and I laminated them and put them in a popsicle frame for a little keepsake for families.

I didn't want to cover up the little poem on the back, but you can always put a magnet on the back and stick it on the fridge.  They turned out so cute. :)

We read our little book and hunted for the sight word "I" to go along with our letter of the week.

We shared all of our letter "I" show and tell items.

We had one Incredible Hulk mask.

We had two instruments.

We had one Ipad.

We had one iguana.

We had one Indiana magnet.

We had one inner tube.

We had one ice pack.  Larkyn's family was also sweet enough to send in ice cream for the class to celebrate our letter of the week!

We had one "I Spy" book.

Playtime in class

Part of our playtime was building turkeys with styrofoam and feathers in our sensory bin.

We came up with some really cute creations!

It was so much fun to see what they came up with.

Fun with playdough too!

Getting some wiggles out in our Minds in Motion room.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your families!  See you in two weeks!

Dinosaurs

It's been one "dinomite" week this week as we've been studying dinosaurs!  We've gotten to dance like dinosaurs, melt and hammer icy dinosaur eggs, and do a variety of crafts and activities about these amazing animals as well.  It's been a lot of fun!  Hope you enjoy all our pics from this fun-filled theme. :)

Dinosaur Stomp Dance Video

Letter B Song from ABC Mouse

Spell PINK Song

Cooper was able to share about his experiences last week with Gumby.

We used stickers to place on our ten frames.  Each ten frame had a different number, so kiddos put that number of stickers on the ten frame to show it's value.  It was pretty challenging, since we still have some kiddos who are working on counting to 10 and some who still don't know all numbers 1-10, but we're making progress! :)

Mrs. Susie painted hands for a little dinosaur craft while kiddos used color words to color a dinosaur picture.  They had to match the write color word with the right shapes in the picture.

Our dinosaur hands turned out like this.  :)  Check them out in the hall!

Look at these great fine motor skills to make the letter B with Q-tips!

Tracing our numbers 1-9 that we've covered so far.  Those pencil grips have come so far!

Using our dotters to find all the letter B's.

We drew a line to connect our numbers to the dice we found in the picture.

Such hard workers at our independent stations!

Using our paint dotters to find the sight word "and" on our papers.

We read our books and found our color words to help us know what color to color each picture.

We "read" our sentences that used our sight word of the week "and".  Then, we circled the word "and" everytime we saw it in the sentence.  We were using context/picture clues to figure out what the sentences say. ;)

We did a coloring and cutting sample with our dinosaur pictures.  We're doing really well with cutting straight lines, but we're still working on curving and jagged lines.

Mrs. Susie helped us measure our dinosaur bones on our paper with cubes.

We used a variety of shapes to create our own dinosaurs.
They turned out so cute, and I love how creative they chose to be.  No two dinosaurs turned out the same, and they even chose creative little names for their dinos too!

Look for these in the hallway as well.

I created dinosaur eggs as our science experiment this week by putting a small plastic dinosaur in a balloon, filling it up with water and then freezing it overnight.

We used warm water with droppers to help them melt, but some of them were really slow to melt still.

Since they were taking a little longer to thaw out, we decided to use toy hammers and little golf tees to help speed up the process.

Finally, one broke, and we saw the little dinosaur inside!

We shared all of our letter B items during Show and Tell, and then stood on the ten frame to show how many we had.
 We had 1 Batman cape.

 We had 1 book.

We had 1 Belle and 1 Beast.

 We had 1 Bentlee. :)

 We had 1 bridge.

 We had 1 Brachiosaurus.

 We had 1 baby doll.

We had 1 bracelet and 1 set of binoculars.

 We had 1 Barbie.

We had 1 Bumblee transformer.

We had 1 bucket and 1 blue ball.

Spending some time in the MIM room.
