Butterflies and Bugs

We've been studying bugs and butterflies this week as we've been reviewing our skills from the year.  We talked specifically about the process of a butterfly's metamorphosis from egg, to caterpillar, to chrysalis, and finally to butterfly.  It's so exciting to see how these kiddos have grown and developed into butterflies this year as well!  As we've prepared for our assessments, we've been able to do a variety of fun crafts and activities.  We continue to practice our graduation songs and motions as well.  The kiddos were especially excited to see that their plants have been growing so tall, and they were thrilled to get to take them home this week! :)  Hope you enjoy the song videos and pics from the week!

We reviewed letter B by making bumblebees out of the letter.  These little pieces were a little difficult to lift up with their fingers, so it was a great fine motor activity too.

We worked on tracing a butterfly and then colored it in.  Tracing is a little trickier than it seems at this age, so this was great practice. ;)

We talked about the word symmetry and examples of things that show it.  We created symmetrical butterflies by dotting one side of a butterfly paper and then folded it so paint would touch the other side.

 Such beautiful results!

Look at how our plants have grown!

We got to bring our own items in for Show and Tell this week.

W is for Willa the Doll

During assessments, I don't always take as many pictures, but I managed to snap a few of our playtime inside and outside!

Hope you enjoy your week!

Easter

It's been a fun week filled with Easter celebrations!  We've hunted for Easter eggs full of treats, we've made cute bunnies, and we've painted crosses to remind us that the real reason we celebrate is because Jesus is risen! :)  We've been reviewing a lot of the skills we've learned this year as we prepare for upcoming assessments, so make sure you're looking over the assessment information in the newsletter.  I've included some fun videos that we did this week that might also help review for the assessments too.  Hope you enjoying seeing all of our fun pictures from the busy week!

We worked on the word "look" in our cut and paste activity with different sentences and pictures that we cut out and matched.

Mrs. Andrea worked with kiddos on adding pictures together to create addition problems.  She helped kiddos with making the numbers as well.

We've been working hard to draw our friends that are our Students of the Day.

We used Q-tip painting with different colors to make mosaic crosses.

My sweet Mom came in again this week to help out. :)

We made shape bunnies out of hearts, squares, rectangles, ovals, and triangles.

They turned out super cute!

We used tape to make crosses on papers and then let kiddos use rainbow colors to create a "paint resist" cross.

They turned out so colorful!  Look for these in the hallway. :)

We had a lot of friends who brought in eggs to shake on Friday for Show and Tell.  We decided if it was hard or soft and if it was one item or many items inside each one.

We continue to spray and water our plants to help them grow, and we've been putting them near the front door to get plenty of sunlight when possible.  They're starting to grow!

We did a little Easter egg hunt on Wednesday in our classroom and hunted for eggs with a little candy in them.  Everyone did such a great job finding them!

Superhero fun during our class play time. :)

We squeezed in a little green room time on the chilly Friday, but we enjoyed sunshine on the other two days!  Hoping for more of that!

Have a blessed week!
