Butterflies and Bugs

We've been studying bugs and butterflies this week as we've been reviewing our skills from the year.  We talked specifically about the process of a butterfly's metamorphosis from egg, to caterpillar, to chrysalis, and finally to butterfly.  It's so exciting to see how these kiddos have grown and developed into butterflies this year as well!  As we've prepared for our assessments, we've been able to do a variety of fun crafts and activities.  We continue to practice our graduation songs and motions as well.  The kiddos were especially excited to see that their plants have been growing so tall, and they were thrilled to get to take them home this week! :)  Hope you enjoy the song videos and pics from the week!

We reviewed letter B by making bumblebees out of the letter.  These little pieces were a little difficult to lift up with their fingers, so it was a great fine motor activity too.

We worked on tracing a butterfly and then colored it in.  Tracing is a little trickier than it seems at this age, so this was great practice. ;)

We talked about the word symmetry and examples of things that show it.  We created symmetrical butterflies by dotting one side of a butterfly paper and then folded it so paint would touch the other side.

 Such beautiful results!

Look at how our plants have grown!
