Dental Health and Community Helpers

We combined two themes this week and talked about Community Helpers and Dental Health.  We created our own communities/cities out of shapes, we made teeth with marshmallows, and even made faces with tons of teeth as well.  We created an octopus craft for our letter "O" of the week, and we continued to work on our teen numbers too.  We had a special visitor that was a dentist, and we also talked about what we wanted to be when we grow up.  I loved to hear their answers and see their funny poses to go along with them!  We also had a chance to dress up as the person we want to be as well on Thursday during our Show and Tell time.  Hope you enjoy our pics from the week!

Creating mail trucks that we'll use to make our Valentine carrier with

How can we help those around us with our own two hands?
We talked about ways we can help the community both near and far.

We practiced writing the number 15 and then used 15 marshmallows to create teeth for our mouths.

We practiced recognizing and making our numbers 10-15 on dry erase boards.

We practiced writing our color word "black" from the week.

We played a dice game where we roll the dice and then color in the one we find on our paper.

We used scraps of paper and cotton balls to create our toothbrushes.  Then, we sang our song, "Brush up, brush down, brush every way.  Brush your teeth two times a day!"

Love to see these kiddos reading!

One of my favorite activities of the year!  I just love to see what they want to be when they grow up.  So cute!

We also dressed up as future jobs on Thursday as well.

Afternoon Bridge/Lunch Bunch

We reviewed what number to call in case of an emergency, 911!  Then, we talked about how we appreciate so many different community helpers that are willing to help in emergencies. :)

We created our own stop signs and talked about what they meant.

We brushed our teeth pictures with paint and toothbrushes.

We put a "Pete the Cat"puzzle together in groups.

We sequenced events and then looked for the picture that would come in next in the sequence.  This was a little tough for some, but great skill practice with ordering events.

We drew letter cards and practiced writing each letter.  Then, we erased them by "brushing our teeth" with toothbrushes.

We used fine motor skills to put pouch lids onto pipe cleaners, and we talked about what patterns we could create by doing it.

We matched the pieces of the community helpers cards.

We practiced recognizing and creating our numbers 10-15.

We hunted for the letter "O" on our paper.

We made police cars our of paper plates too!

We welcomed a new friend to our lunch bunch crew. :)

We practiced doing yoga, since it was too cold to go outside.

Hope you enjoyed our photos from the week!
