President's Day

We had a great week celebrating some of our country's presidents this past week.  We talked a lot about what the president does and what we would do if we were president one day.   We even got to make log cabins similar to Lincoln's with popsicle sticks and shapes.   We also talked about money, it's value, and which presidents are on which coins that we use every day.  We even did a fun little experiment with water tension on the top of a coin. :)  When you check out our blog pics below, be sure to look for our funny pictures with our "faces on the one million dollar bill."  They thought this was fun, and it sure looks cute!

Do You Know the President? - Song About Money

Get Up! It's President's Day! - President Song

Letter G Song - Jack Hartmann

We made flags with our handprints, stars, and we painted our own stripes.  They turned out really sweet. :)

We worked on our sight word "can" this week and talked about a variety of our American symbols and what they mean.  We circled our sight word every time we saw it.  This page is in our Reading Folder for reference.

This little lady was our Student of the Week, and we drew a picture of her as a class.

Mrs. Andrea read to us about George Washington.

We talked about the letter "G" and put stickers on our letter to trace it.

We worked on spelling the color word "brown" by stamping it and learning a song to go with it.

We talked about what we would do if we were president, and then we colored a picture of ourselves as president.

Mrs. Andrea helped us create some fun Abraham Lincoln masks, and although they aren't pictured, we made some fun Lincoln Log Cabins too out of popsicle sticks.  You can check those out in the hallway!

We shared our letter "G" items for Show and Tell.

 We had 2 goats.

 We had 1 green spoon.

 We had 2 grapes.

We had a grill and a gift.

 We had 1 gorilla.

 We had 1 gator.

We had 1 foam letter "G" and a Gecko.

 We had 1 Groot.

 We had 1 guitar.

 We had 1 green caterpillar.

We had 1 bottle of glitter glue.

We had 1 George, a Curious Monkey.

We had 1 pair of goggles.

We did a science experiment to test water tension on a coin to see how many drops of water would fit on it before falling off the edge of the coin.

After counting together...we discovered that it took 20 drops of water on the coin to create so much water tension that the water fell off the top of the coin.  This was a fun little science activity that got them counting in the process!

Are these little faces priceless or what?? ;)

We had some fun with playdough while waiting our turn at Mrs. Andrea's station.

We had some fun playing with friends inside the classroom.

We also got a chance to go outside for a little while too!  It was cool, but we needed to get some energy out for sure!

Hope you enjoyed our pics from the week!
