Pond Life

We jumped into a great week of talking about Pond Life and all the animals we find there.  We made frog headbands, made turtles out of paper plates, ducks out of our feet, and worked on some great skills to get us ready for kindergarten too!  We studied the letter Q, continued to identify #1-20 as well as count to higher numbers and worked on identifying and spelling GRAY.   Hope you have been enjoying the sunshine as much as we have!  These kiddos have loved playing outside and getting wet and muddy, but I love to see how much they learn from each other during play.  Social skills are a HUGE part of kindergarten (and life), so we're working hard to learn and show good friendship skills. :)  Hope you enjoy our pics from the week!

We worked on the letter Q this week and the sound it makes.  So, we painted with Q-tips to trace the letter Q to look like a dotted Quilt. :)

We also made turtles out of paper plates.  They worked hard to paint it and then tape it together.  This was great fine motor for these little hands!

We also made frog headbands.  I love all these funny little expressions they make.  There's just something so cute about little kids with frog heads. ;)

We're continuing to work on recognizing our color words, and this week we did a color by number with a duck scene to help us remember our color words.

Our cutting and gluing has improved so much since the beginning of the year.  This week we cut and pasted the life cycle of a frog in the correct order so we could see how it goes from an egg to a tadpole and later becomes a frog.

We're working really hard to draw our Students of the Day, and it's been challenging for some of these kiddos.  Just keep encouraging your child to draw, color, write, and do fine motor activities to help strengthen those little hands to get them ready for kindergarten.  :)

We worked on reviewing our sight words by playing a dice game.  We took turns rolling the dice and reading the sight word it landed on.  Then, we wrote that word on our chart.

We also made some ducks out of our footprints.  We traced writing at the bottom for our letter of the week that says, "Q is for Quack! Quack!"  Check the hallway for these to be on display!

We shared our letter Q items for Show and Tell this week.

We had 1 duck named Quack.

We had 1 Q-tip.

We had 2 Queens.

We had 1 "Quacker" noisemaker.  Sounded just like a real duck!

We had 1 quilt.

We had 1 stuffed animal named Queenie.

We had 1 Quartz stone.

We had 1 part of a Queen's hat.

We had 8 quarters.

We had fun making all kinds of spring animals with our playdough this week, and as always, we had fun playing with our friends and building things during our class play time.

We all needed some sunshine time this week and loved playing outside for a few days!

Completely melts my heart to see these friends all playing together. :)

We also enjoyed some fun times getting wiggles out in the MIM room too!

We always look forward to our story time with Mrs. Andrea at the end of the day. :)

Hope you enjoyed our blog!
