Horses and Derby

We had so much fun studying horses and the Kentucky Derby this week!  We did some fun activities in class and even made our own headbands and horses for our own class horse race.  So fun!  We also worked on a few Mother's Day, Father's Day, and end-of-the-year crafts for our binders.  Hope you enjoy looking at all the cute pics and videos from the week!

So glad to hear about this sweet girl's basket full of goodies this week as our Star Student!

Working on coloring our horse pictures and staying in the lines.

We painted our hands for our butterfly poem craft and then covered them with little sequins.

We worked on the sight word "said" and all the things each animal "said" in our little poem.  Look for these in their Reading Folders.

We practiced our cutting skills once again.  What a difference since the beginning of the year!  Keep practicing over the summer too!

We had some wonderful volunteers who came in to help out with our Mother and Father's Day interviews.  So funny to hear these responses on these questions!  Thanks to those of you that volunteered, especially my Mom who traveled just to help me out. :)

We took pictures of these sweet kiddos in big boots as part of their Father's Day gifts this year.  Such a great reminder of how little they still are!

Coloring and tracing our sentence about horses.

Working on recognizing our color words and sight words to read each sentence and color pictures accordingly.

 Drawing pictures of ourselves.

Cutting and pasting the sequence of events with our plants growing.  So similar to how our real plants grew too!

Thanks to another patient and helpful parent volunteer, we were able to glue on all these colorful buttons on our horses.  This took some serious fine motor skills, but they managed to pick them up and glue each one on very carefully.  We even came up with some creative names for our horses too.  They turned out so beautiful!  Definitely one of my favorite crafts this year! :)

We had 2 friends share their basket of goodies this week, since next week is our last week.  I love to hear all the sweet things they share each time.  Precious!

We enjoyed indoor playtime...

Outdoor playtime...

So many little kiddos enjoyed chatting with my Mom, and she loved listening to all their sweet stories.  Warms my heart!

All of our cute Derby Headbands to get ready for our race!

Our horses at the starting gate...

And the race is on!

What a fun-filled week it was!
