Dr. Seuss

What a fun-filled crazy week we've had celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday this week.  We've had silly sock day, hat day, and mismatch clothes day in honor of this special author and illustrator.  We've worked on new skills and made some fun crafts along the way too.  This is usually a favorite theme, and after seeing the pics this week, you'll see why! :)

Horton Hears a Who Read Aloud

Letter Sound Workout w/Jack Hartmann

I can't tell you how fun it is to work at a place that isn't afraid to have fun!  We started off our week with crazy hat day, and I had so many friends who brought a hat to wear for this special day too, just like us! :)

We worked on tracing our numbers #1-20 independently.

After reading "Oh, the Places You'll Go," we talked about places we would like to travel one day and created hot air balloon crafts with scraps of paper.

We drew pictures of our Student of the Week.  We're working hard on following directions in the picture by using the right colors and drawing the shapes we see.  This is challenging but great practice for kindergarten!

We talked a lot about rhyming words this week, and we created a Cat in the Hat hat that had words that we cut out to create the -at family of words.  Then, we read them, sat, mat, cat, hat, etc.
Our cutting skills have come so far since the beginning of the year!

We created Cat in the Hat hats and faces by following our red and white stripe pattern.  They turned out so cute!

We worked on showing #18 on our ten frame pages and practiced tracing the number as well.

We practiced writing our letter of the week "Ee" and practiced making its sound too.

We created a fox puppet out of paper sacks after reading "Fox in Socks."

We worked on building sentences with our sight words and color words we've been working on.  We have so many friends that are reading their sight words and color words both, which is awesome!  So proud of their hard work!

Singing our letter sound song to help us remember the sounds for each letter.

After listening to a read aloud online called, "Horton Hears a Who," we created blue handprints to look like elephants along with a saying from the book and Scripture too.

Mrs. Andrea did a fun measuring activity with us.  We measured our feet in paper clips and in unifex cubes.  This was great measuring practice, counting practice, and number writing practice.  We even learned how to trace our own feet! :)

We had crazy mismatch clothes day as well.  I love working with this lady who puts up with all the craziness that goes on with preschool and isn't afraid to look crazy at times too! :)

We shared our Show and Tell items for letter "E" this week.

We had 4 elephants.

We had 1 elf.

We had 3 Elsas.

We had 4 eggs.

We had 1 letter E block.

We had 1 Emmett character from the LEGO movie.

 We had 1 Evie character.

We had 1 envelope.

We had some fun treats this week too!

We had Lorax mini cupcakes,

We had "green eggs and ham" with ham lunchmeat and a powdered donut with green icing in the middle.  So fun!

We also celebrated a birthday this week with cookies that were so fun and colorful too!  A very "sweet" week for sure!

We got to watch just little bit of the original "Cat in the Hat" cartoon movie.

We showed off our silly socks during our MIM time. :)

We had fun times during our class play time with friends.

More fun times in the green room.  Look at all these cute close-ups.  They're too cute!

Hope you have a great week!
