Valentine's Day

It's been one LOVELY week celebrating Valentine's Day with these kiddos!  We've had fun talking about the importance of being kind, being good friends, and loving our neighbors in the midst of the all the fun activities we've been doing in class.  We made a variety of crafts, worked on the letter R, the sight word "you" and the color orange.  We even did a little "fizzy heart" experiment as well.  We also made mail trucks for our Valentines for our Valentine's Day Party.  Our party was full of fun games, crafts and snacks as well, and of course we took some silly pictures with props too.  Hope you enjoy our pics from the week!

We worked on tracing first and last names while working on our learning rings.

We also worked on tracing our lowercase letters as well.

We hunted for the sight word "you" in our reading groups this week.

We used yarn to trace our letters.

We painted around a heart and once the paint dried, we took of the heart to reveal our scripture of the week underneath.

We worked on cutting with all kinds of fun scissors.

We matched magnetic letters with the correct letters on the boards.

We created friendship bracelets with foam beads and pipe cleaners.

We used pieces of paper to remind us that...

"God loves us to pieces!"

Getting our mail trucks ready for our Valentine cards

We started out with a nice pink paper heart, and then we talked about how mean words and actions can break someone's heart.  Each mean word or action caused a piece to be torn off of the heart.  We put the heart back together by using kind words and doing kind things that we talked about as a class.  Such a great illustration for kindness!
