Eric Carle

We studied a wonderful children's author this week named Eric Carle.  His books inspired some fun and creative activities in the classroom, so you'll have to check the hallway for some of our work.  We were able to paint, cut, glue, draw, practice handwriting, tracing, and even hole punching!  There are so many creative ways to learn and work on fine motor skills!  Hope you enjoy the pics and videos from the week. :)

Mrs. Susie helped us make our Letter F booklets that showed us how to trace the letter, find the letter, and find pictures that start with the letter F.

We practiced making a variety of letters, shapes and numbers that we've learned so far using dry erase markers and dry erase boards.  They LOVE using dry erase markers in this class!

We painted our own clouds and then talked about what our clouds looked like.

We painted using the colors we've learned about in class so far.

After reading "The Hungry Caterpillar", we used hole punchers for the first time to punch holes like caterpillars in our leaves.  This was really challenging to squeeze these punchers with our hands, but it was great fine motor practice!

After reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", we made our own books and colored the pictures and traced the color words.  Look at the this great coloring! :)

We painted with sponges, Legos, and paint brushes on colorful paper.

After the paint dried, we cut up the paper into shapes and glued it onto our letter F to trace it with our paper.
Look at these great cutting skills!  I'm so proud of his hard work!

This was one of many letter F items brought in for Show and Tell this week.  Sorry, I forgot the group picture this time!

Since we talked about clouds in one of our Eric Carle books, I decided to create a cloud with shaving cream in a jar of water.  Then, I used blue food coloring to represent the moisture that hangs in the clouds and then falls out of the clouds onto the earth as rain.

So sweet to catch some friends sharing toys.  We've been working so hard on this as a class!

I love to see kiddos voluntarily looking at books in our little library.  It just warms my heart. :)

Grabbing some sunshine outside.  Had to snap a pic of these kiddos filling up their cars with "gas" from the outdoor water hose! :)

Have a wonderful week!
