Leaves and Seasons

Well, there's definitely a chill in the air, and it's been a perfect time to talk about the seasons and the leaves changing!  It's such a beautiful and colorful time of year, and it's been fun to study and do crafts with different leaves.  We've talked about how and why leaves change and how leaves are different both in color and characteristics.  We've painted around leaves, created sentences with leaves, read books about Fall leaves, and also talked about letter "B" by gluing buttons on "B"s.  It's been a fun week, and I hope you enjoy the pics and videos from our activities!

Playing a spinner game with different colored leaves.  We graphed each color of leaf with the responses that we had after spinning with each turn.

We glued buttons onto our letter "B" papers.

We used wine corks to dip in paint and make leaves for our big tree on our papers.

So colorful!

We worked on a skill combo review sheet in my reading group this week.  We reviewed letters and color words.

We created a sentence using jumbled up words that we put into a sentence by cutting and pasting into the right place.

We painted around some real leaves with pretty fall colors.

We created our own trees by painting trunks and dipping aluminum foil into paint and using it to paint the top of our trees.

This was a fun process! :)

We did color by letter together to use our color words and upper and lowercase Bb identification.

We traced letters we covered so far in all different sizes on our dry erase sheets.

We sharpened our fine motor skills by cutting with fun craft scissors to make our papers have different designs and edges.  Great practice for these little hands!

Afternoon Bridge and Lunch Bunch Activities

We're clapping our syllables in our matching activity.  We had to decide if our pictures had words with 1, 2, 3, or 4 syllables (claps) when we said them.

Making leaf people :)

We're painting leaves with paint and shaving cream together.  This was messy but fun!

They turned out so cool!
