Letter Sound Song
Count 1-20 Song
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Song/Book
We drew pictures of ourselves on the first day and talked about some of our favorite things.
We did a coloring sheet on our first day, and I'm impressed at how well these friends colored on the first day! Awesome!
After reading the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," we made a craft with letters in our name and made a coconut tree just like in the book.
We used stamp letters and stamped our papers.
We made people magnets (that will come home soon) and decorated them to look like us.
We read the book "Chrysanthemum" about a mouse with this name that was teased. So, we made mice like this character and worked on writing our own names as well.
We did some watercolor painting to look like coconut trees from the Chicka book.
We made our own coconut tree similar to the Chicka book and wrote capital letters all over it. They had to use letter stickers to match the correct letters together on the tree.
When we arrive in the morning, we work on play dough mats at times. We trace the letter with play dough, identify the letter, and then get a new letter mat when we get it right.
We created our own headbands to look like coconut trees with our own sticker names on them. Too cute!
We made a class graph of all of our names to see which names were the longest and which were the shortest.
I love to see friends looking at books! It warms my heart! :)
We did a little science experiment that involved eggs this week. We've been talking a lot about accepting each other's differences, no matter what they look like, talk like, act like, etc. So, we had 3 eggs of different colors and made predictions about whether or not they would look different on the inside since they looked different on the outside.
We soon discovered that even though the outside shells were all different colors, the inside looked the same. Just like us! We all look different, but inside we're all just people too. :)
What cuties!
We took pictures with all of us holding our names so that we could make a friendship page to go home. Sometimes kiddos talk about friends they meet at school, so it's nice for parents to be able to put names with faces. :)
We worked in our Sensory Bin with letters and noodles.
I just love to see kiddos that choose to look at books!
Dress-up time fun!
We made a trip to the green room or Minds in Motion this week to exercise our minds and bodies. We each rotated from station to station and learned what to do at each spot.
Getting some time for fun in the sun as well!
Bridge and Lunch Bunch Fun
We used magnifying glasses to look at our fingerprints. We talked about how unique our prints are just like us. We also looked at different types/designs of fingerprints there are (arches, loops, arcs, etc.). Then, we made our own fingerprints with ink pads and looked at them afterward as well. So fun to be scientists in preschool!
Pretend play is always the best play when it comes to dresses!
We played a color strategy game that required us to look for colors that could touch other matching colors in one or more boxes.
We played a math game that required us to match the numbers with the correct amount on the other puzzle piece. They did a great job counting and recognizing their numbers!
Ms. Jennifer helped us make family trees with names of people in our family.
Playtime with friends during our Bridge/Lunch Bunch time is so much fun!
