Zoo Animals

This week we had wild fun talking about zoo animals!  We made animal clothespins, Noah's arks out of popsicle sticks, paper plate leopards, and alligators with popsicle sticks too!  To cover our skills for the week, we studied letter Nn, the color black, the #4, and the diamond shape.  Hope you enjoy our pictures and videos from the week!

Noah's Arky, Arky Song

We painted diamond shapes with Q-tips.

After reading the book, "Put Me in the Zoo," we made our own yellow leopards with paper plates and pom poms.  Then we counted the poms and named our leopards.

We read the Bible story about Noah's ark this week, and then we created our own arks out of popsicle sticks.

We created alligators with pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks.

We read our poem for our reading folders about Zoo Animals.  We used our color words that we've covered so far, and we used picture clues to help us figure out the words we didn't know. :)

Playing with zoo animals and "grass" in the sensory bin.

Creating our own zoos out of playdough, pipecleaners, and zoo animals.

We created zoo animals on clothespins.

We worked on tracing all 26 capital letters.

Letter "Nn" is for number stamping.

We used tangrams/pattern blocks to create animal pictures.  It was tricky, but this little man managed to do two of them without a problem!  Way to go!

We used 1:1 correspondence to show different amounts with stickers on each cave.  The #1 had one sticker, the #2 had two stickers, etc.

We worked on patterns, counting animals, and writing our numbers as well.

We practiced cutting by cutting the edge of paper plates to make lion's manes.  Then, we painted them yellow.  After drying, we created a face for our lions.

Show and Tell with Letter "N" Items

 We had 1 nose. :)

We had 1 real nest.

We had 4 necklaces.

We had 1 new truck.

We had 1 newborn baby with a nightgown and a "No, No" book.

We had 1 bag of nickels.

We had 1 nail.

We had 1 book about about "Naya".

We had 2 sets of nunchucks.  Watch out!

We had 1 Newport Aquarium toy.

We got to listen to the book, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" read by the actual author Michael Rosen.  He's so animated and has a British accent, which the kids loved.  Everything sounds better with an accent, right?! :)

We made tangram animals.

We made toucan birds out of feather and paper plates.

We made panda masks out of paper plates.
