Pond Life

 We had a lot of fun talking about various animals found in ponds this week!  We got to do some fun crafts, some frog jumping, some duck quacking, and got to watch some fun counting videos too.  Hope you enjoy the pics from our various activities this week.  Look for the fun frog jumping competition we had with Mrs. Laura's class too!  It was hilarious to watch! :)

These kids have been so much fun this year!  I've loved teaching these sweet ones! :)

Millie Kate shared some fun items for her "All About Me" basket this week.

We talked about the life cycle of a frog in the books we read, and we used our headbands to show the different stages: eggs, tadpole, froglet, and frog.

We rolled a dice and then covered those numbers with our flat marbles.

As you know, we've been working a lot on tracing and writing our names.  We traced our names with dry erase markers this morning during our tabletop activities.  Later, we found our name with magnetic letters and wrote our names with dry erase markers again after spelling it.  This took time, so we still have some kiddos who will finish this next week. :)

We did little frog races with jumping plastic frogs today.  We flipped their tail end to see how far it could go on our number line 0-10.  This was a great fine motor activity, and a great way to review our numbers up to 10 as well.

Everybody got a turn to race back and forth to see who's frog jumped the farthest.

Exercises in the MIM Room

We had some serious frog jumpers today when we competed against Mrs. Laura's class.  Some of our kiddos even decided to wear their frog headbands during their jumping.  It was so fun!

Rainbows and St. Patrick's Day

We had fun working on two different themes this week!  We talked about rainbows and St. Patrick's Day, so we got to do some fun and messy activities. :)  Hope you enjoy the pics from the week and hope all of you enjoy your Spring Break!  See you in 2 weeks!

Arrabelle was able to share about her fun activities with Gumby this week.

Karen was kind enough and patient enough to do a messy rainbow smearing activity with shaving cream and paint.  They were fun to make, but it was super messy!

Look at this new trick that helps with pencil grip!  A simple rubberband can be used to attach to the wrist and the pencil/marker, and suddenly it's much easier to write.  So grateful for a parent who showed me this cool trick they've been using at home.  So cool!

We played a rainbow dice game with Fruit Loops this week.  They rolled a dice, then placed that number of Fruit Loops on the colorful stripes.  This was a great activity for counting, color matching, and fine motor skills, and not to mention tasty too!

Mrs. Stacy helped us paint our rainbows using all the right colors.

We also decorated shamrocks and talked about why we're lucky.

We took Skittles and hot water and watched them melt into a rainbow wheel of colors.  (Sorry, I didn't get a final picture.)  Nevertheless, we talked about how this related to our prayers that all go straight to God.  

We had some super cute St. Patrick's Day attire!

We borrowed the Marble Run from the room next door and tried to build a path for a little marble to travel down.

We used laminated letter playdough mats to trace our letters using playdough.

Fun times in the MIM room this week.  We also used the parachute as well, but it was a little tricky to take pictures of that at the same time I was moving it! :)

Ocean

This week we learned about the ocean and a variety of animals that you find in the ocean.  We read books, made waves with scarves, sang songs, and played funny fish games with our hands too.  I also included a short video that we watched of ocean animals, the sounds that they make, and the way to spell each animals.  Hope you enjoy a few of the pics from our fun-filled week of learning!

We put white whales in a Ziploc bag with different spots of colored paint and squished it all around...

 ...and this is the cute and colorful whale we ended up with.  They're hanging up in the hallway (as you can tell), and you can check them out next week.  This went along with our story about Jonah and the whale too.

We used letter "O" fruit loops to glue onto our Octopus that you find in the Ocean!  Mrs. Stacy helped us out this week while Mrs. Karen was out for a few days.  It's so nice to have such awesome co-teachers at LAP that can fill-in and love on these kiddos. :)

 These are our finished octopus crafts we made.  Great fine motor practice for strengthening these little hands!

 We also got to do something else with food this week...Goldfish Graphing!  We sorted them by color and then counted them on our graphs to see which color had the most and least.  Then, we got to snack on a few too. :)

We got together with Mrs. Laura's class for an ocean water science experiment.  The goal was to show the different ocean zones that animals live in (the lighter water is toward the surface and darker water is toward the bottom of the ocean).   Look at all these cuties patiently waiting for us to do the experiment.  Great behavior that shows they're ready for Kinder Prep next year!

It didn't turn out quite the way we hoped, but at least you could see a lighter layer and a darker layer to represent the top and bottom layers of the ocean!  That's life with experiments!
