Author Study: Eric Litwin (Pete the Cat Books)

Hope all of you enjoyed the long weekend after we had a snow day on Friday.  Though I'm fighting a head cold myself, I've actually enjoyed a few days at home to snuggle in and get caught up on a few things.  :)  Last week, we studied the Pete the Cat series of books.  Eric Litwin and James Dean have both written/illustrated a variety of books in this series, and the kids LOVE them.  (I do too! :)  We continued to review our letters and numbers covered so far, and we were planning to spell and wear the color BLUE on Friday.  (Plan on that for next Friday, since we weren't able to do this last week.)  Hope you enjoy the pics from our short week!  Don't forget to check out our fun videos below too.  I found a great letter sound review song that I haven't even showed the kids yet, but I think it would be fun review for them!  The other 2 color words song we heard in class last week.  Have a great week, and I'll see you on Wednesday!

Spell the Color Words

Jameson shared his adventures with Gumby last week.  Looks like Gumby had fun!

Mrs. Susie helped us cut and paste our numbers 1-10 in order and then trace our new number 11 at the end of the sequence.

We worked on reviewing our color words and coloring them according to the word on our color cards.

Mrs. Susie also helped us cut and paste a puzzle picture of Pete the Cat.  We cut it apart and then put it back in order also with numbers 1-10 at the bottom.

We reviewed the shape rectangle and traced them.

We did some buddy reading on the carpet with a variety of Pete the Cat books.

We read a book in Mrs. Hannah's reading group that was similar to "My Four Groovy Button" book with Pete the Cat.  We traced numbers 1-4 and worked on our very first subtraction problems in our book.  They did a great job for their first time!

We also made Pete the Cat crafts and chose the color of shoes we wanted for each of our cats.  Then, we traced the color word accordingly.

They turned out super cute!  Look for them in the hallway!

Enjoying playtime with our friends!

Wiggle time in the Minds in Motion Room

Thanks to your fundraising donations, we were able to purchase a car on a track for kiddos to ride in the MIM room as well.  They loved it!

To calm down a little, we decided to do our cosmic yoga for kids video, and this time we did the one with the Star Wars theme!  So cool! :)
