Author Study: Jane Brett

We had a fun and short week studying one of my favorite authors, Jan Brett.  We did activities based on "The Mitten" and "The Hat" written by this author and based on winter folktales.  We did a lot of review and will continue to do so throughout the month as we prepare for our assessment at the end of January.  Hope you're reviewing at home too! :)  With only 2 days this week, we don't have a lot of pictures, but I hope you enjoy them!

After reading "The Mitten", we talked about what we would fit in our own mitten and drew a picture of it.

We hunted for the letter "U" and dotted it with paint dobbers.

We worked on using our color words to color our mittens the right color.

We reviewed our numbers 1-10 and matched some of the upper and lowercase letters we've covered so far.  We also worked on identifying, spelling, and reading our sight word "the" this week.

We did Show and Tell for our letter "U" items.

We had 1 unicorn shirt.

We had 1 set of utensils.

We had 4 umbrellas.

And, we had 1 Uma doll.

We played with friends.

We made hat crafts with cotton balls and tissue paper after reading the book, "The Hat".

We had some work being done in the green room, so we played with the parachute.  They loved it!

We also did some funny exercise videos to help us get some wiggles out.

We even did some more of our cosmic yoga poses.  Hilarious! :)

Mrs. Susie also read "Three Snow Bears" by Jan Brett at the end of the day to our kiddos.

Hope you have a blessed week!  See you on Wednesday!
