Winter Animals

This week we talked about a variety of different winter animals and hibernation.  We had fun making snowy owl crafts and animals that we painted with marbles to look like they were in a snowstorm!  So fun!  We also worked on letter "V", the number 12, and spelling the color B-L-U-E.  So proud of all the great spelling with our color word this week! :)   Hope you enjoy the pics from the week, and I'll see all of you on Wednesday!

Little Miss Larkyn shared her journeys with Gumby last week.  Apparently, Gumby had his first play date in the snow!

We had 2 kiddos that celebrated their birthdays this week.  We celebrated Jameson on Wednesday! :)

We celebrated Addy's birthday on Friday! :)

We created a book about hibernating animals.  We "read" each page and used the beginning letter sound to figure out what animal should go on each page.  Then, we cut out the animals and placed them on the page in the right spot.

We traced our numbers 1-20.

We traced our alphabet.

We dotted the letter "V".

We practiced tracing and counting items up to 12.

We glued our winter animals onto blue paper.
Then, Mrs. Susie placed our papers in a bin, and we took 2 marbles out of a bowl of white paint and moved and rolled the marbles all over our paper.
The goal was to make it look like our animals were in a snowstorm. :)  It was a little messy, but so fun!

We're continuing to review "every letter everyday" to help us with letter recognition and sounds.  When they come to Mrs. Hannah's table, this is one of the many things we do to review.  Please practice naming each letter and sound everyday as much as possible at home too to reinforce this and prepare them for kindergarten.  Repetition makes a difference!

We colored and graphed different winter animals.  Then, we totaled each animal and practiced tracing those numbers.

We worked on another number page that encouraged us to find the missing number in the sequence of numbers.  This was a new activity, but they managed to figure it out. :)

We filled in our ten frames with stickers for number 10, 11, and 12.

We worked on our cutting, gluing, and sequencing skills when we cut apart words and put them in order according to the sentence example given.  We also traced the sentence, and then read the sentence as well.

Our cutting skills have come so far!

Time for some fun with our friends!

Couldn't resist taking a pic of this facial expression, per her request. :)

We shared letter "V" items in Show and Tell.
We had 2 violins.

We had 2 vegetables.

We had 1 velociraptor.

We had 1 veterinarian Barbie.

We had 1 kiddo (actually many kiddos) with VEINS! :)

We had 1 vest.

We had 1 Valentine card inside a Vera Bradley bag with a velcro clasp!

We had 1 van.

We started a new activity in the Minds in Motion room to help with visual focus.  It's a string bead activity that encourages kids to focus on 1 bead color at a time to help with overall visual acuity.

We had a great time exercising our minds and bodies in the Minds in Motion Room.

I love to see friends helping each other.  When a kiddo needed help putting their shoes on, friends were willing to volunteer to help without a problem. :)  Warms my heart.

Have a wonderful week!
