Rainbows and St. Patrick's Day

What a fun-filled week it's been chasing rainbows and leprechauns and looking for pots of gold!  We've learned so much about St. Patrick's Day as well as the real St. Patrick himself.  He was a real man that was born in England but later became a missionary in Ireland.  Apparently, when he shared his faith in Jesus with others, he used the shamrock to talk about the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and his work for God supposedly drove all the snakes out of Ireland too! :)  It was also fun to hear about some legends related to St. Patrick's Day too, like looking for leprechauns and pots of gold at the end of a rainbow.  Not true, but definitely fun to talk about and read about!  Hope you enjoy the pictures from the week!

We created a combo craft with a leprechaun craft and rainbow stripes too.

We cut out and sorted shamrocks by size (small, medium, and large).

We traced lowercase letters in rainbow colors.

We glued on small pieces of green paper to make a collage shamrock.

We painted our own rainbows.

We made rainbows to describe ourselves and our favorite things.

We created rainbow shamrocks with rainbow shaving cream painting.

We listened with friends to books on CD.

These two little ladies celebrated birthdays this week!

 

We talked about the colors of the rainbow and the order in which we can find them.  We also did a little science experiment that also shows what our prayers to God look like.

When we pour hot water on Skittles, all the colors run together to the middle of the plate.   No matter how many times we pray or how many different people pray, all prayers make their way to God.

 I found these cute rainbow stackable crayons at Target and thought they would make fun gifts for these kiddos to use at home.  Hope you enjoy them!

Afternoon Bridge and Lunch Bunch Activities

We matched cards by color, shape and name.

We rolled two dice, counted the dots, and then counted out the right number of Fruit Loops to put on the correct stripes from the rainbows.

 

Tracing letters with playdough

We used our hands to create leprechauns.

We did some Yoga exercises on a rainy day.

 Mrs. Traci read to us.

We worked on a puzzle together.

 

 

We connected plastic chains for good fine motor practice.

 We built with straws.

 

We worked on creating different patterns and finishing patterns that were started for us with pom poms.

We did leprechaun crafts and painted their beards with forks.

We painted around shamrocks by doing paint resist painting.

We rolled dice, counted the number, traced the number and marked off the number at the top.
